Digitisation is the uniting theme across the entire trade and payments ecosystem at the 2024 Sibos financial services conference, according to Adesh Sarup, Head of Transaction banking, International, at ANZ.
Speaking from Sibos in Beijing, where ANZ experts are connecting with 10,000 fellow industry delegates, Sarup said conversations at the event had centred on themes such as interoperability of financial ecosystems and the future of finance.
“Digitisation is a theme across the entire ecosystem,” he said. “And as banks emerge and connect, we've had a lot of discussions around how to actually digitise conventional trade, but also open account finance.”
Sarup was speaking with Lisa Vasic, Managing Director, Transaction Banking at ANZ. You can watch the video below to find out more.

Vasic said real-time payments (RTP) and the use of digital assets had been two other key themes at the conference so far.
“We've been very excited to share the experience [with RTP] in the local Australian market,” she said. “Including the work that we've been doing to support our correspondent banks in Australia.”
Vasic said central bank digital currencies had now been a subject of conversation at Sibos for a number of years, but the industry is finally “starting to see some great use cases” deploying the tech “in a way that's actually helping financial infrastructure”.
