In business, sometimes the seemingly easiest things can be the hardest to execute. At ANZ, we understand the challenges our customers face, particularly in transaction banking, where complexity is rising rapidly amid the transition to digital.
From ANZ’s perspective, our TB team has been focused on being easy to do business with. It sounds simple, but that’s what a large portion our customers really want from a transaction banker – to give them something that works, and to make doing business seamless.
A core part of ANZ’s business is to help our clients connect to the newest business and strategic opportunities as they develop - including real time payments and supply-chain finance across Australia, New Zealand and Asia.
That’s why we are so pleased to again be named as 2022’s leading transaction bank, both domestically and offshore, by Peter Lee & Associates.
According to the 2022 Peter Lee Associates Large Corporate and Institutional Transactional Banking Survey, ANZ has retained its number-one ranking for being the lead domestic transactional bank and lead offshore transactional bank.
Separately, ANZ continued to perform well in the latest East & Partners Australia Business Trade Finance survey, maintaining a clear lead in market share. The bank scored the highest among our peers across 14 of 20 customer satisfaction measures - including knowledge of customer industry, risk advice and management, customer service, bank’s trade account officer, general trade advice and innovative solutions.
These are results we are proud of – but also determined to maintain.

Focus on relationships
At ANZ, our transaction banking team has stood by our customers, supporting them through the difficulties of pandemic-led lockdown with our digital and integration solutions supporting remote working conditions and our trade finance solutions supporting changing working capital needs.
With five times the number of M&A related integrations, ANZ is now helping our customers grow organically and inorganically as we come out the other side.
As market conditions change, our customer relationships continue to evolve, with the confidence in knowing they’ll get the best expert advice and balanced views available as we run through business and what-if scenarios.
And this expertise is backed by our customers who, according to Peter Lee, named us the number one bank for overall market penetration in trade services, as well as the number one lead bank for trade services.
ANZ also maintained its number-one ranking for lead bank market penetration for domestic transaction banking and for overall transaction banking.
A crucial role
At ANZ, we know banks have a crucial role to play in helping businesses thrive and supporting them navigate the complex area of trade finance solutions.
We are always aiming to understand our customers the best we possibly can, so we can help them with the considered and appropriate solutions. We invest time in understanding our customer and how we can help.
Our latest recognition comes after ANZ was also named the number one lead bank for overall market penetration in Australia for the seventh-consecutive year in this year’s Peter Lee survey, highlighting our ongoing strength in relationship banking.
We will continue investing in our people, capability and platforms in order to provide leading guidance, support and solutions to our customers.
