ANZ Institutional has been named the leading bank for customers in Australia for the seventh-consecutive year, highlighting its ongoing strength in relationship banking.
The bank has now been named number one in the ‘lead bank penetration’ and ‘overall market penetration’ categories every year since 2016, according to the latest Peter Lee Associates Large Corporate and Institutional Relationship Banking Survey.
In addition, ANZ has reiterated its market-leading position in the green finance space, being named the market leader for ESG for the second straight year.
The survey, which polled over 600 large Australian corporates on their banker relationships, also named ANZ as top of the class in the key categories of industry analysis and understanding client funding needs.
ANZ Managing Director, Institutional Australia & PNG, Tammy Medard said the bank was constantly striving to improve its customer offering to ensure it was a dependable bank of choice.
“Through the pandemic our customers needed to know their bank was there for them,” she said.
“We were able to give our customers certainty in a time of significant uncertainty, and this year's Peter Lee results tell us they value us most for that capability.”
Green
ANZ Institutional has now secured the market-leading role in the ESG and sustainable finance space every year since it was included in the Peter Lee survey.
“It’s particularly pleasing to once again be recognised as the market leader in the increasingly important area of ESG,” Medard said.
“ESG is a megatrend in banking, and we’re encouraged to see our clients say they value our analysis, advisory and solutions in this space.”
Leader
The Peter Lee Associates survey is a widely respected indicator of performance across institutional banking in Australia.
According to Peter Lee, some 603 Australia-based large businesses with more than $A500 million in annual turnover were surveyed in 2022.
ANZ was named in the top spot for reliability and dependability of funding, as well as knowing company industries best. It was also named the number one lead offshore bank in the survey.
The news comes after ANZ Institutional was named the best bank for ESG and sustainable finance for 2022 at the annual Australian Corporate Treasury Association (ACTA) awards in May.
